The BGI will complement USAID-sponsored “Oro Legal” program says agency
TDI is proud to be working with the BGI, an integrated supply chain project aiming to improve the social and environmental conditions of AMS throughout the world. Now USAID want to team up with the initiative which complements their Oro Legal (Legal Gold) program. Both aim to convert many small, artisanal, illegal miners to legal mining.
The BGI, led by our strategic partners Projekt Consult, is the implementing team for the Swiss Better Gold Association. Together we have a four-year mandate from the Swiss Secretary of State for Economic Affairs (SECO) to significantly scale the volume of gold from responsible ASM in the Andes. Consequently the region will benefit socially, economically and environmentally from the program.
The project includes extensive field-presence to build a robust pipeline. In addition is the design and implementation of a market-ready standard and due diligence system. This is the principal responsibility of TDI. We are engaging with 19 mining operations in the region to ensure they meet the standards and expectations of the Swiss gold market.
